Little Richard Suffered Heart Attack (660 hits)

Little Richard is on the mend, recovering from a heart attack he suffered last week. The legendary rock 'n' roll pioneer revealed the health scare to Cee Lo Green during an interview at a Recording Academy fundraiser inside the W Hotel in Atlanta Monday (Sept 30).

Sharing the incident with Green and a crowd of over a 100 at the W Hotel, the 80-year-old admitted that he didn't know he was having a heart attack at first. "I was coughing and my right arm was aching," Richard said. "I told my son, 'Make the room as cold as ice.' So he turned the air conditioning on and I took a baby aspirin."

As it turns out, taking the medicine was a tremendous help. "The doctor told me that saved my life," he continued, crediting his faith with making it through the medical emergency. "Jesus had something for me. He brought me through."

"God talked to me the other night," the "Tutti Fruit" singer added later in the interview. "When I talk to you about [Jesus], I'm not playing. I'm almost 81 years old. Without God, I wouldn't be here."

Although he appears to be on the road to recovery, Richard traveled to the event in a tour bus outfitted with a hospital bed.
